Manchester Legal Walk raises over £10k

  • 18/11/2021

Congratulations to all those that battled the weather to take part in the Manchester Legal walk on 29th September 2021! Your hard work raised £10,202.50 for the North West Legal Support Trust (NWLST) a grant-making charity, which raises and distributes funds to support free legal advice, services, and access to justice for all in the North West of England.

The charities supported by the NWLST help to facilitate and support access to justice for the poorest, most vulnerable, and most disadvantaged members of society. They provide free legal help to people facing problems such as homelessness, debt, employment, family issues, mental health problems, discrimination, and injustice. They desperately need funds to support their work.

The need for free legal advice centres has grown in the past few years. The recession has increased poverty and reduced support services and the pandemic has added to the problems. Meanwhile funding for the advice centres themselves has reduced and the pandemic has added to the legal issues many people face without the means to pay for it.

A hearty pat on the back and a big well done to all the teams that took part. Teams included: Anthony Collins, AFG Law, CL Medilaw, Deans Court Chambers , Douglas Scott Legal Recruitment, DWF Law LLP, Eversheds Sutherland, Fieldings Porter 150, Horwich Farrelly, Manchester Law School, Manchester Metropolitan University, Markel Law, Merricks Solicitors, Miller Grace Recruitment, Pabla & Pabla Solicitors, Pannone Corporate LLP, Platts Solicitors, Potter Rees Dolan, Olliers Solicitors, The Claims Guys Legal, Trafford Law Society, Tuckers Solcitors, UoM Justice Hub & Pro Bono Society, University of Law Manchester, and Weightmans LLP Manchester.
