SearchFlow launches ESG Due Diligence Reporting Service for Lawyers

  • 09/09/2021

SearchFlow, one of the UK’s largest providers of legal due diligence data for residential and commercial property transactions, has announced the launch of a new Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) due diligence report service to support real estate lawyers in accurately assessing ESG risk during M&A and investment deals.

As an extension of its due diligence search and data portfolio, SearchFlow has now been confirmed as an authorised provider of the RiskHorizon ESG Screen report from Landmark Information Group. The RiskHorizon ESG Screen is an intuitive screening tool that assesses a wide range of global ESG factors from multiple sources. It provides meaningful insights to help lawyers carry out an efficient due diligence process across a broad range of ESG key topics, as well as helping their clients make informed decisions when buying or investing in a company or property assets.

ESG metrics represent the three core themes for measuring the sustainability and positive impact of an investment or business. The RiskHorizon ESG Screen report aggregates over 50 of the world’s most credible datasets so lawyers and clients can profile, evaluate and prioritise a broad spectrum of ESG risks with confidence.

To mark the launch, a series of on-demand webinars are available to download that provide an introduction to real estate ESG due diligence.  Each webinar is led by Professor Robert Lee, who was the former Director of the Centre for Legal Education and Research at the University of Birmingham, where he specialised in the environment and sustainability. He has also acted as specialist adviser to the European Parliament, the European Commission, the House of Commons and the National Assembly for Wales.

Dr Thomas Quirke, Managing Director of SearchFlow said, “From a lawyer’s perspective, being able to support clients in making ethical and responsible investments is increasingly becoming a priority, particularly as evidence grows between the link to financial performance and positive ESG ratings. It provides a valuable measure of how future impacts of global change and government policy are addressed by any given company.

“RiskHorizon ESG Risk Screen simplifies ESG risk management by providing a single view of portfolios and their associated risks. It also includes due diligence recommendations and a checklist based on the essential questions and a consultant analysis.  We are therefore delighted to launch the ESG reporting service in order to support our legal clients.”
