Membership Manager – Maternity Cover

A Membership Manager is required for a rewarding opportunity with the Manchester Law Society. The role will be based in Manchester and offers an excellent basic salary of £17,500 pro rata.

Dating back to 1838, the Manchester Law Society has over 3,600 members and is overseen by a Council whose sole aim is to promote the interests of its members. The Society runs an excellent and vibrant Legal Education Programme; they run Courses and Seminars on all aspects of law and its practice. Throughout the year the Society also runs numerous other events including the Manchester Professionals Dinner Club, Newly Qualified Solicitors Ceremony and finally the Manchester Legal Awards. The Society also supports the Manchester Young Solicitors Association and the Manchester Trainee Solicitors Group.

This role is a full time Maternity Cover post starting ideally in the middle of May for a period of ten months. The role is 35 hours a week, with occasional need to work outside the core office hours, of 9-5, for which you will receive time off in lieu.

The main responsibilities of this role are:
• Membership Management
• Diary management
• Networking and social events
• Website
• MLS Advantage
• Being a first point of contact for enquiries on the telephone or over email
• Have knowledge of SAGE Accounts
• Ad Hoc administration duties
• Supporting colleagues where necessary

On a daily basis you will be liaising with the Council and various Committees to organise regular committee meetings. You will source venues and advertise events through various channels i.e. email and social media. You will take bookings and manage the process all the way through to running the event on the day and registering the attendees.

To be successful in this role it is imperative that you can demonstrate on your CV experience of administration and diary management. On a daily basis you will be speaking to very high profile individuals from the Manchester legal profession i.e. Judges and Barristers so a natural confidence, ease and credibility is essential. You will need the social skills to liaise with guests at events and also the administrative skills to process invoices etc. Above all else you need to be organised and enjoy the administrative nature of this role.

The Manchester Law Society is highly revered throughout the wider Manchester professional community. To secure this role would be a real feather in your cap as it would give you some excellent exposure to key legal decision makers.
