Overview

The Law Society’s Meet the judges event is ideal for solicitors who want to find out more about a career in the judiciary. Three speakers will address key aspects of the judicial appointments process and the role and work of judges. Solicitors will hear directly from solicitor judges about their experiences of applying for, and taking on, a judicial post. There will be an opportunity for Q&A after the speakers’ presentations.

Immediately following this there will be a reception to enable those attending to network informally with colleagues and our speakers.

Programme

17:00 – 17:30   Registration and refreshments
17:30 – 18:30   Applying to become a judge
Brief presentations on the Judicial Appointments Commission’s selection process and on judicial careers within both courts and tribunals
18:30 – 19:30   Networking drinks reception
An opportunity for more informal contact with both the judges who spoke at the event and
other local solicitor judges

Solicitors who are seriously considering applying to join the judiciary.

Solicitor Judges, both salaried and fee-paid, who wish to take the opportunity to network both with solicitor judges from the region and solicitors who are intending to apply for judicial office.
Open only to members on the roll of the Law Society of England and Wales.
