About Adam Reid & the Restaurant

Adam Reid joined the French in 2014 as Head Chef, taking over as Chef-Patron in 2016. Adam is Manchester born and is no stranger to the areas fine dining scene.  He trained initially at the Bridgewater Hall and then progressed to work at numerous Michelin-starred restaurants including Simon Radley at the Chester Grosvenor.  Adam achieved 4 AA rosettes in his time at The French and has also won BBC’s prestigious Great British Menu competition with his signature dish, Golden Empire.

Adam Reid at The French is a collaboration in more than name alone, with Adam making his stamp on every aspect of the dining experience, from the new flexible menus, more relaxed accessible atmosphere and his piece de resistance, The Chef’s Counter.

Showcasing Adam’s creative culinary talents, the menu offers modern British food that delivers consistently excellent flavours, using the best seasonal produce available. The new menu has given the space a far more relaxed edge, but Reid is doing anything but taking his foot off the gas with the food.

Adam Reid at The French marries perfectly the old and the new and is a dining experience to be remembered. The Grade II listed dining room has recently been refurbished with new lighting, wall art and paintwork. Steeped in history, the restaurant offers outstanding levels of service, warmth and style that in turn, create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere from the minute you walk in the door and along with music from Adam’s very own playlist this is one venue you don’t want to miss a visit to.

It’s more relaxed, more…fun. A lunch time hangout as well as a fine dining destination and there’s a quiet determination about Reid, one of Manchester’s finest chefs who is grabbing his chance to be in the spotlight with both hands.

What people are saying about the Professionals’ Dinner Club;-

“Quite apart from the fact that the dinners are at really interesting places that I wouldn’t ordinarily go to and they are very sociable and enjoyable events, I found myself in the office last week with the Management of an organisation that I very much wanted to get to know. This hugely important meeting for me flowed directly from my having sat next to someone from that firm at the Dinner Club. The chat over dinner was great and informal, and the whole atmosphere seemed to encourage people to explore how they could help each other. Hopefully I did my bit for people round the table too. Great stuff Manchester Law Society, so thank you.”
