1. BIS consultation on the introduction of a Land Registry service delivery company

  • The Department of Business, Innovation & Skills is currently consulting on proposed changes to Land Registry’s structure and the introduction of a Land Registry service delivery company.
  • There is a very short deadline for responses – the consultation closes on 20 March 2014.
  • The operative part of the consultation document is only about 15 pages long, which is surprising given the importance of the revised structure.
  • Further information about the consultation, including the consultation and response forms, can be
    found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/land-registry-new-service-delivery-company

The BIS press release is available here: http://news.bis.gov.uk/Press-Releases/Consultation-launched-to-transform-land-registration-69848.aspx

2. Land Registry’s consultation on wider powers and local land charges

  • This  consultation was launched on 16 January and ends on  9 March 2014.
  • It is a consultation from Land Registry about its proposals for local land charges and also affects
the CON29 searches. The operative part of this consultation is also relatively short.
  • Further information about this consultation, impact assessment and the response forms, can be found
    here: http://consultations.landregistry.gov.uk/consult.ti/LLC1/consultationHome

Please note that both consultations are only available online because of the Government’s ‘digital by default’ strategy and not all of the points that members may wish to make will be covered by the pro forma response documents.
