79% of firms complete diversity data collection exercise on time

79% (8,396) firms have successfully submitted their diversity data reports to the SRA by the 31
January deadline – with many more in progress.

The 2013 data collection exercise started in July last year with a request for firms to
collect, report and publish their workforce diversity data online for the first time.

Mehrunnisa Lalani, Director of Inclusion said: “We would like to thank the majority of
firms which have provided their diversity information to us as this will give
us a comprehensive evidence base about the diversity characteristics of the
legal workforce in England and Wales.

“We would like to apologise for the few technical issues which some firms experienced when trying
to submit information but we have been able to resolve these quickly once we knew about them.

“Our priority for the next few days is to contact firms that need help entering the data into
mySRA.  We will then be considering the regulatory options for those firms
who have not attempted to comply.”

“For those firms who have gathered the data, we would just remind them of the need to publish
their results annually at some point.”

Any firms experiencing difficulty should still contact the SRA by telephoning 0870 606 2555 or emailing [email protected]

The SRA will be analysing the data collated for a report to be published in the Spring.
